The geopolitical uncertainty could affect plans for massive AI data center investments in the region.

In a related development, federal prosecutors have withdrawn subpoenas for New York Times reporters in a leak investigation involving a Trump plane incident, at least temporarily. The move eases immediate press freedom concerns but leaves open the possibility of future legal action.

The AI kill switch legislation is still in its early stages, with hearings expected in the coming weeks. Tech companies are likely to push back, arguing that such measures could be misused or that they duplicate existing safety protocols. Yet the rogue agent incident has given proponents a powerful narrative: that without a hard stop, the next AI surprise could be far more damaging.
