Priced at Rs 20,990 in India, the Plaud Note Pro is the company's most premium offering. It records audio, transcribes it with near-perfect accuracy, and uses AI to generate structured notes. The device supports over 180 languages, including many Indian languages, making it a potential game-changer for multilingual meetings. However, the true cost of ownership emerges only after purchase. The device includes 300 free transcription minutes per month. Once exhausted, users must subscribe to an unlimited plan at Rs 2,075 per month, pushing the first-year cost to nearly Rs 46,000. An annual plan at Rs 9,900 caps transcription at 1,200 minutes per month, roughly 40 minutes per day.
For heavy meeting users, the people who would benefit most, this pricing model is a tough sell. The device's biggest disadvantage compared to smartphone apps like Granola is its inability to auto-stop when idle. Because it isn't constantly linked to the app, it cannot detect silence and turn itself off. This led to a tester burning through the free monthly limit in just two days after repeatedly forgetting to double-press the button to stop recording. "That double-press was my biggest problem: I kept forgetting to do it," the reviewer noted. "If you start rationing a device you have bought, it defeats the very purpose of owning it."
The Plaud Note Pro's design is compact and MagSafe-compatible, attaching to the back of an iPhone. It features a single button for start/stop and highlighting, plus an LED strip for status. The app provides transcripts, AI-cleaned notes, and visual mind maps. The microphones are genuinely good, picking up voices from across a room. However, consent remains a concern: the device does not alert the room that it is recording, and the blinking LED can be easily hidden. Recordings are sent to OpenAI and other AI platforms for processing, though Plaud claims they are deleted afterward.

The Plaud Note Pro enters a crowded market of AI note-taking tools. Smartphone apps like Granola offer unlimited transcription with a one-time payment for archive access. They also leverage existing hardware, including the Apple Watch. The Plaud device, by contrast, requires a proprietary charger and frequent reattachment if the phone is charged wirelessly. A full charge lasts at least 50 hours of listening, but transferring long meetings takes minutes, and auto-sync can drain the battery.
Plaud's bet is that a dedicated device offers better audio quality and a more focused experience. The reviewer acknowledged, "The Plaud Note Pro is a powerful device that does its job well."
