September 11, 2026, (Inside AI) — OpenAI has launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialized workspace that embeds premium market data and GPT‑6 Astra reasoning to help investment banks and equity research teams produce financial models, research notes, and client materials.

The product arrives after a design partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore. Those firms helped OpenAI identify where bankers lose the most time: accessing reliable data and turning analysis into polished artifacts. The result is a ChatGPT Work experience that removes many of the friction points tied to MCP connectors and manual data wrangling.

Built-in datasets come from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. Coverage spans earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private company records. OpenAI indexes and hosts this data on its own infrastructure, which the company says improves retrieval accuracy, latency, and how information surfaces inside the product.

For a banker running a P&L normalization analysis, the tool can inspect reconciliations and notes behind adjusted EBITDA, show which costs were excluded, and support valuation decisions. Granular citations let users trace figures and claims back to source documents as analysis develops.

Data Entitlements And Connector Overhaul

Many institutions already hold subscriptions to major data providers. OpenAI is working with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody's on shared sign-in and entitlement integrations. Providers will recognize users through ChatGPT sign-in to grant automatic access to data they are already entitled to, avoiding separate contracts or connector setup.

OpenAI has also optimized some of the most used MCP connectors in financial services, including S&P Global and FactSet. The goal is fewer troubleshooting requests and more time on analysis. The broader connector ecosystem includes over 50 integrations such as Datasite, Box, Preqin, and Intapp.

GPT‑6 Astra is positioned as state of the art across three capabilities: information retrieval, financial reasoning, and artifact generation. It can navigate figures, tables, and supporting notes in financial documents, run analysis, and synthesize outputs into documents, spreadsheets, and slides. Teams can also build interactive charts and visualizations from completed analysis.

Administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates through a dedicated admin page. With firm templates and style guides configured, teams can convert analysis into valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks in their firm's format and style.

Security Controls And Industry Positioning

ChatGPT for Financial Services builds on ChatGPT Enterprise's SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access controls. Business data is not used to train models by default. It is encrypted at rest and in transit, and admins can configure workspace retention. Compliance teams can export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform into existing audit and investigation workflows.

Firms can manage access to skills and apps by role and enable or disable supported app read and write actions. Multiple workspaces can be created to enforce information barriers, a critical requirement for protecting material non-public information and client confidentiality.

OpenAI says this is one way it serves the finance industry, not the only way. Financial services firms and developers can use the API to build specialized applications. OpenAI brings frontier models and capabilities; institutions, data providers, and software partners bring specialized expertise, trusted information, and customer relationships.

ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions. Interested firms can contact OpenAI or reach out to their account team.
