August 19, 2026, (Inside AI) — A Pakistani developer has built SafeAI, an AI-powered emergency assistant that consolidates disaster information and practical tools into one mobile-friendly web app. The platform targets a country where floods have killed over 4,500 people and displaced nearly 40 million since 2010.

Najeeb Zahra, an AI Automation Specialist, created SafeAI to fix a critical gap: after a disaster, citizens struggle to find reliable information quickly. Hospital locations change, weather alerts arrive late, and safety protocols stay buried on government sites that no one visits during an emergency.

The core of SafeAI is an emergency assistant powered by Google Gemini. Users can ask questions and receive clear, step-by-step instructions in real time. Zahra told TechJuice:

"The main purpose of the application is to provide users with essential emergency information and practical tools through a single platform, especially during situations where quick and reliable guidance is needed," Najeeb Zahra, AI Automation Specialist, SafeAI.

SafeAI includes a hospital finder with live data, meteorological updates, an emergency directory, and standardized disaster manuals for earthquakes and floods. An emergency toolkit offers live location sharing, battery diagnostics, and a digital compass for when the power grid fails.

Zahra did not treat AI as a shortcut for writing code. She used it as a development partner for planning, debugging, and learning. She said:

"I used AI as a learning and problem-solving partner while making sure I understood and implemented the features myself." Najeeb Zahra, AI Automation Specialist, SafeAI.

This approach gave her hands-on mastery of React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, API connections, GitHub, and Vercel hosting. The app runs on Vercel, the same infrastructure used by major tech firms.

Why Pakistan's Reactive Emergency Systems Need a Proactive Tech Fix

Pakistan's emergency protocols have historically been reactive. Authorities scramble only after rivers breach their banks or buildings collapse. Technology offers a path toward proactive preparedness. SafeAI mirrors this shift by pulling fragmented state data into one portal and deploying instant AI guidance on mobile devices.

Zahra said:

"The idea behind SafeAI was to explore how technology and AI can make emergency information more accessible, organized, and easier to use when people need it most." Najeeb Zahra, AI Automation Specialist, SafeAI.

Field experts emphasize that real-time flood prediction, hydrological modeling, AI tools, satellite telemetry, and unified data networks are now indispensable for crisis response. SafeAI aligns with that evolution, but its next hurdle is adoption.

State institutions acknowledge the need for upgraded emergency tech. That creates an opening for SafeAI to integrate into Pakistan's official disaster relief framework. Success depends on institutional partnerships, administrative integration, and continuous data updates.

Built for 2G Networks and Real-World Constraints

Real-world crises demand utilities that work under duress. When floods hit, users cannot wait for slow cloud synchronization. Information must load over sluggish 2G networks. SafeAI has engineered around these limitations, operating smoothly on the mobile devices Pakistanis carry everywhere.

Zahra's journey also highlights how AI can be applied to real problems in a country where opportunities are limited, especially for women. She said:

"Through this project, I gained practical experience with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, API Integration, GitHub, Vercel Deployment, and AI Integration... More importantly, the project helped me understand how AI can be combined with web technologies to create solutions focused on real-world problems." Najeeb Zahra, AI Automation Specialist, SafeAI.

SafeAI currently functions as a web-based app hosted on Vercel. It remains to be seen whether state agencies will adopt the platform and maintain accurate, real-time data feeds. For now, the tool is available for public use.
