July 15, 2026, (Inside AI) — Pakistan is set to host the Indus RAS Expo 2026, a major national exhibition on robotics and autonomous systems, on July 22 and 23 at the Pak-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad.
Organized by Ignite – National Technology Fund under the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT), the two-day event aims to unite policymakers, defense organizations, industry leaders, startups, investors, and academia to strengthen the country’s robotics ecosystem and accelerate adoption of autonomous technologies.
The expo comes at a time when robotics is reshaping global economies, driving transformation in manufacturing, defense, agriculture, healthcare, logistics, and public services. Pakistan seeks to position itself at the forefront of this shift, leveraging local talent and research to build indigenous capabilities.
Live demonstrations will feature locally developed products and advanced applied research in defense robotics, drone technologies, industrial automation, maritime autonomous systems, agritech, Physical AI, human-machine collaboration, and AI-powered decision support systems. Leading universities, research institutions, tech companies, and startups will showcase their work.
Flagship attractions include the RAS Innovation Challenge and RoboWars Competition, where students and engineers will present original drone and robotics solutions to a panel of industry experts. An Immersive Experience Dome will offer interactive storytelling and 360-degree digital experiences designed to inspire the next generation of innovators.

High-level plenary sessions will run alongside the exhibits, providing a platform for dialogue on policy, investment, and technology roadmaps. The event is open to visitors, with registration available on the official website.
Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the strategic importance of robotics.
“Robotics serves as a fundamental driver of economic competitiveness, industrial modernization, and national resilience. This expo reflects the commitment of the Government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to invest in innovation, empowering local talent and creating opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs to compete globally.”
Ignite CEO Mr. Muhammad Bilal Abbasi highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the event.
“Innovation flourishes when academia, industry, and the government work together with a shared purpose. The expo provides innovators with a national platform to accelerate the commercialization of indigenous technologies.”
The Indus RAS Expo 2026 is a flagship event under the broader Indus AI initiative, which launched earlier this year in February. It is organized in collaboration with the National Centre of Robotics & Automation (NCRA) and the NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (E&ME).
This focus on robotics aligns with global trends. According to the International Federation of Robotics, worldwide installations of industrial robots reached 553,000 units in 2023, with Asia leading adoption. Pakistan’s push into autonomous systems could help it capture a slice of this growing market, particularly in agriculture—a sector employing nearly 40% of the country’s workforce.
However, challenges remain. Pakistan’s research and development spending hovers around 0.3% of GDP, well below the global average. Competitors like India have launched national robotics missions with dedicated funding. For Pakistan to sustain momentum, the expo must translate into concrete policy support and private investment.
